US Residential Proxies with State and City Targeting
A US residential proxy lets you load websites, ads and search results from an American IP address on a residential network, so you see what a real visitor in a specific part of the country sees. VoVoProxy lets you target US locations, with country, state, city or ASN options depending on the pool. Residential traffic is billed per whole GB, you can start with 1 GB, and there is no subscription.
This page explains when a USA proxy is the right tool, how state and city targeting work, which pool fits which job, and how to estimate your monthly traffic before you buy.
Why Teams Use a US Residential Proxy
The United States is not one market. Prices, taxes, shipping options, local search results and ad inventory can change from one state, or even one city, to the next. If your team sits outside the US, or in a different US region from the audience you care about, your own browser cannot show you those differences.
A US residential proxy routes your requests through an American residential IP, so the target site treats the visit as coming from that location. Common lawful uses include:
- Localization checks. Confirm that US visitors get the right language, currency, legal notices, store locator results and shipping messages.
- Ad verification. Check that geo-targeted campaigns appear in the intended states and cities, with the correct creative and landing page.
- Market research. Compare how products, offers and availability are shown to shoppers in different regions.
- Local SEO monitoring. See how search results change between cities. For a deeper walkthrough, see our guide to proxies for SEO rank tracking.
- QA testing. Verify geo-redirects, region-locked features and content rules before a US launch.
Residential IPs matter for these jobs because many sites tailor content to the network type and location of the visitor. Viewing a page from a residential connection gives you a closer match to the everyday user experience than a cloud server would.
How US Targeting Works: Country, State, City and ASN
VoVoProxy supports four levels of location targeting. Which levels are available depends on the pool you choose, so it is worth deciding up front how precise you need to be.

| Targeting level | What it controls | Typical question it answers | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Country | Exit IP is located in the United States | "What does a US visitor see?" | National landing pages, US-only content |
| State | Exit IP is located in a chosen state | "Does pricing or tax display change by state?" | For example, Texas |
| City | Exit IP is located in or near a chosen city | "What do local results and ads look like here?" | For example, Austin |
| ASN | Exit IP belongs to a specific network (autonomous system) | "How does the page behave on this provider's network?" | A specific network operator |
A few practical rules help:
- Start broad. If country-level targeting answers your question, use it. Broader targeting usually means a larger set of available IPs.
- Go to state level for rules and offers. Sales tax display, shipping restrictions and regional promotions often vary by state.
- Use city level for local intent. Store finders, local search results and city-targeted ads are where a US city proxy earns its keep.
- Use ASN targeting for network-specific testing. It is useful when a page, CDN rule or ad behaves differently on one network.
The state and city names above are examples only. The countries, states and cities available for your pool are listed in the console, so you can confirm your target before you pay.
Country, state, city and ASN targeting is supported depending on the pool. See the pricing page for how targeting affects billing.
Choosing the Right Pool for US Traffic
Pick the pool by the kind of visitor you need to look like and the volume you plan to run.
| Pool | Best suited for in the US | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Datacenter | High-volume data collection, monitoring, automated testing | High throughput, stable session handling |
| Residential | Localization checks, ad verification, market research | Residential network IPs, location-level targeting, broad geographic coverage |
| Premium Residential | Sensitive verification, brand protection | Higher-trust pool for checks where accuracy matters most |
| Mobile | Mobile app QA, mobile-first verification, mobile network testing | Mobile network IPs with location targeting |
For most state and city checks, the standard Residential pool is the natural default. If your US audience is mainly on phones, or you are testing an app, use mobile proxies so requests come from mobile network IPs. If you only need large volumes of US data and the target does not tailor content to residential visitors, the Datacenter pool is a practical choice.
Each pool is a separate account. If you use more than one pool, you get one dedicated account per pool and top up the same account whenever you need more traffic.
Rotating vs Sticky Sessions for US Checks
VoVoProxy supports both rotating IPs and sticky sessions. The right choice depends on the shape of the task.
- Rotating IPs give you a new exit IP per request or per short interval. They suit broad sampling, for example checking one product page from many US locations.
- Sticky sessions keep the same exit IP for a period of time. They suit multi-step flows, such as adding an item to a cart to see state-specific tax or shipping, or clicking through from an ad to a landing page.
A simple rule: if the site needs to remember you between steps, use a sticky session. If each request stands on its own, rotate. Our guide on what a rotating proxy is covers the trade-offs in more depth.
Setting Up and Estimating Traffic
Getting a US proxy running takes a few steps:
- Create an account at vovoproxy.com/register.
- Choose the pool and volume on the pricing page.
- Pay with crypto at checkout.
- Start using it. Provisioning is automatic and typically completes within minutes. Your portal shows ready-to-paste connection strings, your remaining balance and usage history.
Connections work over HTTP and SOCKS5 with per-account username and password authentication. A basic test looks like this:
# HTTP
curl -x http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@PROXY_HOST:PROXY_PORT https://example.com
# SOCKS5
curl -x socks5h://USERNAME:PASSWORD@PROXY_HOST:PROXY_PORT https://example.com
The exact host, port and the parameters for US state, city, ASN and session control are shown in your portal. Copy them from there rather than guessing.
How billing works
Traffic is prepaid, billed per whole GB, and deducted from your balance as you use it. There is no monthly fee and no subscription. Unused traffic stays in your balance. The current per-GB prices for each pool are listed on the pricing page.
To estimate your own volume, run a small test first. Load a representative set of pages through the proxy, check the usage history in the portal, and multiply by the number of checks you plan to run. Pages with heavy images, video or scripts use more traffic, so block assets you do not need when your task allows it.
Please use US proxies responsibly: follow each site's terms, respect robots.txt where relevant, and keep request rates reasonable. VoVoProxy is for lawful uses such as data collection, ad verification, localization checks, brand protection and QA testing. See the terms for details.

FAQ
Can I target a specific US state or city?
Yes. VoVoProxy supports targeting by country, state, city or ASN, depending on the pool, and the options available are listed in the console. See the pricing page for how targeting affects billing.
Which pool should I use for a US residential proxy?
For most localization, ad verification and market research work, use the Residential pool. Choose Premium Residential for sensitive verification and brand protection, Mobile for mobile-first checks and app QA, and Datacenter for high-volume collection.
Do I need a subscription?
No. Traffic is prepaid and deducted from your balance. You can start with 1 GB and top up the same account whenever you need more.
Can I keep the same American IP address for a multi-step check?
Yes. Sticky sessions keep the same exit IP for a period of time, which suits flows like cart and checkout checks. Rotating IPs are also available when you want a fresh IP for each request.
Which protocols are supported?
HTTP and SOCKS5, with per-account username and password. Ready-to-paste connection strings are generated in your portal.
How fast can I start?
After checkout, provisioning is automatic and typically completes within minutes. Your portal shows ready-to-paste connection strings.
